PC Types

A high-end personal computer which is intended for technical or scientific applications is known as a workstation. It is designed mainly to be used by one user at a time.

They are usually connected to a net known as LAN, and run multi-user operating systems.

A desktop computer is a personal system designed to fit on a desk. These desktop computers come in different styles ranging from big vertical tower cases to small form models that can be tucked behind an LCD monitor.

A subtype of desktop computers is known as Single unit PC. In this subtype, the monitor and case of the computer are combined on a single unit. An optional user input usually is a touch screen located on the monitor of the computer.

A Nettop is another subtype of desktop computer, which was introduced on 2008 by Intel to illustrate low-cost, lean-function, desktop computers.

A very popular type of personal computer designed for portability, is the laptop, which is sometimes also a notebook. Habitually all of the interface hardware needed to manage the laptop is built in to a single unit.
