Usually, these components can be put together, if you have some knowledge to build a computer. All the devices get connected due to the motherboard; this is the reason why the motherboard is considered as the most important component of a computer.
Also, several functions can be integrated into the motherboard, such as USB, network, graphics and sound. Hardware capability of a personal computer can be extended by adding up expansion cards connected via an expansion bus.
